The first fresh blanket of winter white always manages to take my breath away. But never have I seen a first snowfall come this heavy or fast. Usually the tips of the green grass are still sticking up for a week or more before there’s enough snow to cover it and not melt in a day. But today it started snowing, and didn’t stop… and it’s sticking. After about three hours, there was four inches of snow on the ground. I ran back to my apartment, grabbed my new camera (I bought the Canon Rebel T1i over Thanksgiving break), and ran back on to campus and took photos of the freshly fallen snow.
Of course, I was not alone out there, even though it was eleven at night by then. Plenty of other people were already out making snowmen, having snowball fights, and taking their own photos of the first snow of the season. Walking around in such a beautiful snowy world put a goofy grin on my face and just made my day.
In my excitement, I’ve already uploaded a few photos on my flickr tonight. Nothing like enthusiasm of fresh snow to get my motivation going.

So it’s been my first week back on campus. I’ve been reuniting with friends and wandering the campus again. And I’ve started a new flickr album for the many more photos sure to come this fall as I run the Photography Club for it’s first full year.

I do not garden. The last time I “gardened” I picked weeds out of the bricks for my mom when I was 9. That’s the extent of my green thumb outdoors; killing weeds.
My mother however, loves to keep a garden. A few years ago she decided she was “too old” to go crawling around in the garden, so she’s hired a gardener to keep tending it and planting new flowers. And now, it’s made a nice place for me to take pictures! I use it as a background for senior portraits, and now I make it my subject as there are quite an abundance of lovely flowers in bloom. So check out this new lovely set of a Summer Garden.

So let’s pretend this is last week. Yay! 4th of July! Independence Day! Woo hoo! So yeah, I missed a post last week. (Doing my best to keep goal #84!) Nonetheless, here are the pictures I took over the 4th of July weekend. Enjoy!

My baby avocado is growing! It’s about six inches tall now with four little leaves. It’s making good progress!

Not much else to report on yet. Been quite busy this past week and taking lots of photos which I have yet to sort though entirely, so a new post will come soon!
