It’s Not Lupus

Tuesday, April 14th, 2009

Nor is it strep. Symptoms said strep. My mom said strep. The clinician even said strep, though the rapid test came back negative. They sent in labs and days later, once I was better, they called and said, “Nope! Not strep!” Thanks, I had no idea. Hah.

Anyway, so that was the last half of my week. Spent skipping non-essential classes to sleep 10-13 hours a day and drink five or six refills of my aluminum water bottle. My reward, not having to do homework, and making a full recovery by the time I had to go see my parents and go to a play.

Oh! Something interesting now, you say? Yes, I saw a play. My family and some guests went to see The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. It is a Broadway musical, though somewhat lesser known. My critique is it was very good and enjoyable. Quite funny and cute, with good music and an interesting twist of some audience participation! If you have seen this musical, or know of it, then I will tell you, my favorite character was Leaf Coneybear because he has cats. Don’t worry. That’s not a spoiler if you have not seen the musical. Just an inside joke. Hehe.

Well, back to my continuing hectic work week. All my final project deadlines are coming up very soon, so I’ve got a lot to finish. Good luck to me!

Self Control, ftw!

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Life is a hectic thing, and it only gets worse as the college student moves closer to final exams. That’d be where I’m at. Fortunately, since I’m in art, we don’t really have “exams.” But we do have lots of big final projects due. So I’m usually very busy the week before finals.

Right now, it’s two weeks before finals and I’ve already pulled an all-nighter in order to complete some homework on time since it’s been put off by my amazing procrastination skills, known well among all my peers. Not that I am bragging (although I am the best).

Anywho, that’s the lack of posting. This is to keep up with my one a week goal and as heads up. Haha. I have lots of photos to comb through from events the past few weeks, but I’m not letting myself get to them until my essential homework is done. Self control, ftw!

The Breakdown

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Today I skipped all of my classes. Even my super important morning art class. Last night I nearly had a breakdown. One of my classes just keeps piling on the homework and it’s stressing me out. If I had that class alone, it’d be no problem, but with two other studio classes and two general education classes (i.e. not my art classes) I’m going insane with all the work I’m supposed be able to get done in supposedly two days.

So what do I do? 1- I go crazy and over think everything in my head. 2- I freak out and drop everything. 3- I go read a book. Probably not the greatest solution when about 50% of my homework is due in two days, but if I don’t relax enough, my art homework will show all my stress and it will be bad. I read as my escape from reality to calm my mind and refresh or reboot, if you will.

Well, that still didn’t help me much, so I figured I’d get a full night’s sleep and since I was up til 3:30am reading, that meant skipping my 8am class. I’ve also skipped my two afternoon classes (not so crucial) in order to sit down and get some of this work done. I’m making some progress, but I’m trying not to go too insane again. Tonight I’m going to a concert to be blogged about later. I call it more de-stressing, but I’ll have to go right back to doing homework after the concert which sucks.

Anyway, read “Eat Pray Love” by Elizabeth Gilbert. It’s very good so far.
